The 2010s
Thirteen Premierships
The 2010s became one of the most successful periods in Templestowe Cricket Club’s recent history, producing thirteen premierships across senior, junior, Twenty20 and veterans cricket.
The decade began with the Howard Wilson Shield triumph in 2011/12 and gathered momentum through a succession of junior flags before an extraordinary 2018/19 season delivered five premierships. The decade closed with another Twenty20 title and victory in the Dorothy McIntosh Shield, with surviving match records preserving the players and performances behind each success.
2010/11 — Wilson Shield Premiers
Sopariwala’s 92 leads Templestowe home
Templestowe claimed the 2011/12 Howard Wilson Shield with a three-wicket grand-final victory over Melbourne Super Kings.
Melbourne Super Kings batted first and were dismissed for 221. David Arfi and Jacob Bevacqua led Templestowe’s attack with three wickets each, while Adam Capan claimed 2/60.
Nishidh Sopariwala then produced the decisive innings, scoring 92 as Templestowe reached 7/224. Captain Luke Costa contributed 39, while Capan completed an excellent all-round final with an unbeaten 36.

2012/13 — Under 16C K Noy Premiers
Combined side claims an 18-run victory
A combined Templestowe, Bulleen Templestowe and Doncaster side claimed the 2012/13 Under 16C K Noy premiership with an 18-run grand-final victory over Deepdene Uniting.
Batting first, the combined side made 5/164. Rafael Epstein led the scoring with 49, Trent Bettiol finished unbeaten on 42 and captain Nicholas Atherinis added an unbeaten 27.
Deepdene Uniting were dismissed for 146 in reply. Atherinis completed a fine all-round final with 3/7, Epstein took 2/26 and Jake Sticca claimed 1/10.

2013/14 — ANZ Bank Shield Twenty20 Premiers
Hone and Zaicos set up a 44-run triumph
Templestowe captured the 2013/14 ANZ Bank Shield with a convincing 44-run victory over Syndal in the Twenty20 grand final.
Batting first, Templestowe reached 7/162 from its 20 overs. Captain Andrew Hone led the way with 49, Andrew Zaicos made 41 and Ashwyn Mohandas added 22.
Syndal were then dismissed for 118 in 18.4 overs. Jacob Bevacqua led the attack with 3/11, Luke Costa took 2/20 and Mohandas 2/26 as Templestowe secured the flag.

2016/17 — Under 14B Friday Premiers
Toop stars in a two-run thriller
Templestowe’s Under 14 Friday B Grade Blue side claimed the 2016/17 premiership after a thrilling two-run grand-final victory over Forest Hill.
Joshua Toop led the batting with 39, while Lachlan Pasquali made an unbeaten 23 and captain Blake Matheson contributed 20 as Templestowe posted 108.
Forest Hill came within two runs of the target before being dismissed for 106. Toop completed an outstanding all-round performance with 3/13, Thomas Thornton took 2/15, while Luke Cormack, Pasquali and Govind Nandini also claimed wickets.

2016/17 — Under 14B Saturday Premiers
Mansell’s 61 drives Templestowe to victory
Templestowe completed an Under 14 double in four consecutive days in 2016/17 with a five-wicket grand-final victory over Doncaster.
Doncaster batted first and made 8/178. Lachlan Pasquali and Alex Toffolo claimed two wickets each, with Jaxon Bradshaw also among the wicket-takers.
Ben Mansell then produced the defining innings of the chase, scoring 61. Pasquali added 19 and Alexander Miller 17 as Templestowe secured the premiership with five wickets in hand.

Thornton stars in another nail-biting final
Templestowe’s junior success continued in 2017/18, with the Under 14 Friday B Grade Gold side overcoming Doncaster in another exceptionally close grand final.
Doncaster were dismissed for 105, with Thomas Thornton producing the standout bowling performance of 3/12. Arya Kumar took 1/6 and Balhaar Singh 1/7.
Thornton then led Templestowe’s batting with 26, while James Italia-Prasad contributed 16. The surviving scorecard records Templestowe as the winner, with the recorded totals separated by just two runs.

2018/19 — H Grade Premiers
Pasquali’s five wickets secure a one-run classic
Templestowe claimed the 2018/19 H Grade premiership after edging Wyclif by a single run in a dramatic grand final at Templestowe Reserve.
Templestowe made 8/109, with Alexander Miller top-scoring with 37 and Marcus Passeri finishing unbeaten on 16.
Wyclif then fell agonisingly short at 108. Lachlan Pasquali produced the decisive bowling performance, taking 5/19 from 12.1 overs, while Hayden Moulder claimed 2/28 and Thomas Pasquali 1/12.

Goldsmith’s 50 sets up a nine-run victory
Templestowe opened an extraordinary 2018/19 premiership haul by defeating Blackburn North United by nine runs in the Storage King Mitcham Shield Twenty20 grand final.
Batting first, Templestowe made 7/165. Captain Jordan Goldsmith led the way with 50, Matt Hodges contributed 30, Probodha Senevirathne made 22 and Mathew Kent 21.
Blackburn North United reached 7/156 in reply. Nathan Fraser and Luke Cormack each claimed two wickets, while Lachlan Volpe took 1/26 as Templestowe defended its total.

2018/19 — B Division Veterans Premiers
Smith’s 3/3 sets up an eight-wicket victory
Templestowe completed a veterans double in 2018/19 with an emphatic eight-wicket grand-final victory over Vermont in the Ken Johnston Memorial Shield.
Vermont were restricted to 9/95. Russell Smith produced the standout bowling figures of 3/3, while Andrew Huber and Robert Procter each claimed 2/13.
Andrew Morrison then led the chase with 41, before Richard Passeri, unbeaten on 24, and Steve Walker, unbeaten on 17, carried Templestowe to victory.

Dinneen and Coviello lead TCC to the flag
Templestowe Purple claimed the Bill & Marg Stafford Shield with a six-wicket victory over Park Orchards in the C Division Veterans grand final.
Park Orchards batted first and made 6/200. Michael Fitz led Templestowe’s bowling with 2/17, while Imran Jumar and Nathan Condie were also among the wicket-takers.
Templestowe responded with 4/201. Mick Dinneen scored 45, captain Matthew Coviello made 40 and Darren Moulder contributed 26 as Purple completed the chase.

2018/19 — Under 16 Saturday B Grade Premiers
Pasquali’s 80 completes a five-flag season
Templestowe’s Under 16 Saturday B side completed the club’s remarkable 2018/19 premiership haul with a four-wicket grand-final victory over Blackburn South/Forest Hill.
Blackburn South/Forest Hill were dismissed for 125. Jack Bowring took 2/9, captain Lachlan Pasquali 2/10 and Alex Toffolo 2/18.
Thomas Pasquali then dominated the run chase with 80, supported by Toffolo with 35 and an unbeaten 16 from Max van den Hout, as Templestowe secured its fifth premiership of the season.
Four of the team returned to the oval a couple of hours later to win the H-Grade flag!

Petersen’s 50 proves the difference
Templestowe retained its place among the association’s Twenty20 champions in 2019/20, defeating Fitzroy Doncaster by seven runs in the Topline Cricket Shield grand final.
Templestowe made 4/88 from its 10 overs, with Darren Petersen producing the standout innings of 50 from 35 balls. Charlie Baker contributed 22.
Fitzroy Doncaster finished seven runs short. Lachlan Volpe and Mitchell Thomas each took 1/12, Lachlan Pasquali claimed 1/13, while captain Trent Pitts and Baker also took wickets.

2019/20 — Dorothy McIntosh Shield Premiers
Ashby’s unbeaten 73 delivers the Shield
Templestowe brought the decade to a close with one of its most significant senior successes, defeating St Davids by eight wickets to claim the 2019/20 Dorothy McIntosh Shield.
After earning their place in the grand final, Templestowe produced a commanding performance against St Davids, with the bowlers first restricting the opposition before Thomas Ashby led a convincing run chase.
St Davids batted first and were dismissed for 130. Lachlan Volpe led the Templestowe attack with an outstanding 5/58, while Charlie Baker took 3/50. Between them they claimed eight wickets and ensured Templestowe would enter its innings with a very achievable target.
Templestowe's reply was built around an unbeaten 73 from Thomas Ashby. Jordon Thomas contributed 32 and Jordan Goldsmith 23 as Templestowe successfully chased the target for the loss of only two wickets, completing an emphatic grand-final victory.
The triumph was Templestowe’s second premiership of 2019/20, following the Topline Cricket Shield Twenty20 success earlier in the season. The McIntosh Shield, however, stands out among the club’s achievements of the decade as an important senior premiership, and provided an excellent conclusion to a period in which Templestowe had enjoyed success across senior, junior, veterans and Twenty20 cricket.
